Holocaust Memorial Day

In January, our Year 9s were fortunate enough to take part in a nationwide webcast with Holocaust survivor Eva Clarke. The students listened to the testimony of Eva and were able to ask her questions about her and her family’s experiences. She shared her remarkable story as Eva was born in Mauthausen concentration camp in April 1945. She and her mother were the only survivors of her family. 15 of whom were killed in Auschwitz-Birkenau. She now shares her testimony with students across the UK as part of wider Holocaust education. The webcast was a part of our wider curriculum for Holocaust Memorial Day this year across the school.

This was an amazing and thought-provoking opportunity for the students to be able to engage with someone who has lived through an event in their history curriculum. All of the Year 9s were fantastic and mature in their responses during the event. Well done year 9!
