National Reading Champions Quiz

This year the National Literacy Trust launched its first ever Reading Quiz and called for schools from across England to take part. Naturally, at Frederick Bremer, we obliged. Who would pass up on the offer to take part in a quiz that celebrates all things literary? Certainly not me and clearly our Year 9s agreed as they were thrilled to be taking part.

The questions ranged from childhood books to classics then on to films inspired by books. There were riddles and phrases and general knowledge and I think our Brain Trust of Eight found it quite challenging at times. But they laughed and had a fun and for that I was happy.

And whilst we didn’t win, two private schools took the top 3 places, Frederick Bremer came in 4th place which meant that we beat all the other schools of a similar context. And so, for me, that says that we kind of did win as we are the BEST comprehensive Secondary School beating schools from Waltham Forest, Hackney and Newham.

Let’s congratulate our students on a great effort in deed and also celebrate them because they were a credit to both their family and school. Super proud of them!

Have a wonderful Summer and stay safe!
