Young scientists from Frederick Bremer have teamed up with the Mayor of London to run the Mayor’s London Young Scientist programme. The aim of the project is to create working models to a specific brief linked to the environment and science. The students are focusing on 3 main areas: Biodiversity, Sustainable city and Air quality. They have been researching our impact on the environment and how we as a school community are helping or hindering the environment. The groups of mixed students from year 7 to 10 are planning to implement their ideas to reduce food waste, recycling and improve the air quality in and around the school. They have been carrying out research on environmental issues and investigating how we recycle food waste, carbon footprints and wastage of resources around the school. By the end of the project, students will achieve a Bronze Crest award and will have the opportunity to showcase at the Big Bang Fair in
London with the opportunity to attend the Royal Institution for special lectures.
