It is that time of year again when 25 students were lucky enough to visit Radley College in Oxford and stay in the school and rehearse and perform as an orchestra.
Students were split into the week trip and the more advanced players were on the weekend residential.
Students really enjoyed the experience saying how they enjoyed “playing and making new friends”, “The dorms were really cool”, “The activities were great and I made new friends” and “I really enjoyed learning new music techniques”.
The residential is for students from each MiSST school, but I am particularly proud of Frederick Bremer who led most of the orchestra sections (even though some have only been playing since September) and a few individuals were chosen to play solos during a piece and for teachers who were training. We also had 3 student leaders from Bremer, who led warm up activities and generally looked after the students.
Ruth and Fahar were nominated and won the ‘Spirit of MiSST’ award, which is for the students who are most helpful during the residential.
We have been visiting Radley for the past 5 years but this is definitely the strongest cohort we have taken. Well done to all the students.
